Preparation
Begin by brushing the hair forward to reveal its natural growth patterns. This initial step is crucial as it helps you understand how the hair falls and where adjustments may be needed for the desired style.Sectioning
Divide the hair into sections, focusing on creating a horseshoe shape on the top. This sectioning technique lays the foundation for the haircut and ensures even distribution of length and texture.Graduation
Use your tools to create a rounded shape, ensuring to keep the knuckles close to the scalp. Gradually work through the hair, adjusting the length as needed to achieve a balanced and blended look.Building Weight
To add volume and texture, create diagonal sections and gradually cut from long to short. This technique helps build up weight around the perimeter of the haircut, enhancing its overall shape and dimension.Elevation
Decide on the desired heaviness of the crop. Lower elevation results in a square finish, while higher elevation gives a softer, rounder look. This decision determines the overall style and silhouette of the haircutTexturising
Use point cutting to add texture to the hair, creating depth and dimension. This technique helps break up the hair's uniformity and adds visual interest to the style.Styling
Apply matte clay to mold and hold the hair in place. This styling product provides a natural-looking hold while adding texture and definition to the hair. Work from root to tip. Finish with a sprinkle of powder for added volume and texture, if liked.Beard
An easily overlooked finishing touch. Top tip - no beard balm or wax? No problem! You can apply a bit of Dark Stag Light Shine Pomade to add luster and tame any stray hairs. This step completes the overall look and ensures a polished appearance. It also smells incredible. Just warm a small amount in the hands first and run through the beard in line with direction of hair growth.Final Touches
Always take a step back and assess the overall look. Make any final adjustments to ensure perfection, paying attention to details such as the fringe and overall shape. Of course - finally, always check the client is happy with the outcome!
